ATTN FULL MARATHON RUNNERS:  The 2020 Trailbreaker Marathon will be run offering both the traditional Ice Age Trail segment and the flat route extension. Unless weather conditions prior to the race date require the use of  only the alternate route is required for runner and trail safety.

PLEASE NOTE: Trail conditions could result in Race Directors opting to run the certified alternative marathon route. This will be posted at the registration table and announced prior to the race. The alternate route is also a USATF Certified marathon.

Race start and finish is located at the Schuetze Recreation Center, 1120 Baxter Street, Waukesha, Wisconsin, 53186.  This Recreation Center is in Frame Park, along the Fox River.

The Marathon course covers approximately 6 miles of city streets and sidewalks, 15 miles of paved trails (including the Fox River Trail & Glacial Drumlin Trail) and 5 miles of the Ice Age Trail.  Miles 11 - 15 are extremely rugged. Except for the Ice Age Trail, the trail is subject to only gentle grades. Marathon turn-around is the top of the 40' Lapham Peak Tower, the highest point in Waukesha County, with spectacular views of the surrounding lake country.

The Ice Age Trail is marked with permanent DNR yellow stripes on permanent posts next to the trail. There is no ground marking. There are no other markings on the Ice Age Trail portion of the course. Be alert, you can go off the course. Please note that a decision will be made by the Wednesday preceding the race as to which certified marathon course will be run. This is due to the impact of winter and weather on the earthen trails of the Ice Age Trail segment of the course. Our priority remains to provide a safe course for our participants, while protecting the integrity of the Ice Age Trail. If the Ice Age Trail course is too icy or muddy, the alternate marathon course using the Glacial Drumlin Trail will be used. This information will be posted on the website.
